Cafe Nordo Presents; Ghosts of Nebula: The Missing Six
From the creators of Café Nordo, Seattle’s most unique and beloved immersive theatrical experience, “Ghosts of Nebula” elevates the traditional Halloween event to spine-tingling new heights. Explore the Steam Plant in a guided tour of a mysterious tragedy 103 years old.
Guests wind through interactive performances and the haunted rooms of this historic location as they learn the history of the group of spiritualists who tried to access an alternate dimension called Nebula by harnessing the power of the plant in 1921.
Dates: Performances run from October 18 – November 2, Wednesday – Sunday.
Performance Times: Entry times are on the half-hour, with the full experience lasting 90 minutes.
Beverage Service: Guests will end their experience in a themed bar on the premises.

FRACTURE! A Math Horror Experience
Matheatre, Seattle Universal Math Museum, and MathHappens present FRACTURE! an interactive math horror experience.
Math is breaking, leaving chaos and terror in its wake. The ancient Cult of Pythagoras has broken physics and reality through an arcane incantation, opening a dreaded ArithmeRift in Seattle's Georgetown Steam Plant.The agents of the federal government's Situationally Uncertain Mathematics Mitigation (SUMM) Division are trying to contain the Fracture and save math. But they need help from expendables volunteers. Like you!
The FRACTURE! interactive math horror experience is part haunted house, part live theater, part escape room.
Explorations into the Fracture will commence 10 October and run through 13 October, Thursday - Saturday 7pm - 10pm, Saturday 2pm - 5pm, Sunday 1pm - 5pm.
Warning: evening explorers will experience extreme darkness, flashing lights, loud noises, and sudden frights. Daytime versions are less frightening and family friendly. Groups will enter every fifteen minutes. Some will survive.

Step inside the giant machine crafted in the early 1900s where the incredible acoustics enhance every voice, making this harmonious singing experience truly unforgettable.
While the Steam Plant helped establish the steam turbine as capable of producing large amounts of power more cheaply and efficiently than other generators at the time, we will be powering this experience with our voices.
No singing experience required – just come, learn your part, and have fun!

Slowburn Dance Presents: Industrial Angels
Industrial Angels is a site specific dance and music performance at Georgetown Steam Plant. Audience members will be transported to a space filled with ethereal dancers and transcendent movement in the backdrop of Seattle’s decommissioned steam plant. Music producer Josh Karnofsky has composed an original score for this work, inspired by the rich details of the space.
This show is presented by SLOWBURN Dance, featuring choreography created by Meredith Pellon and the dancers. Dancing in this work are SLOWBURN artists Elise Meiners, Shayley Timm, and Meredith Pellon, in addition to guest artists Izzy Wroblewski, Samantha Fabrikant, Rose Amlin, and Eva Crystal.

Pinhole Photography Science Camp
Two-week Summer Session for 12-16 yr. olds, 10AM-1PM, (M-F).
In contrast to remote-learning, online simulations, digital, and virtual experiences, this will be a hands-on analog experience. This endeavor will engage a wide range of interests at the nexus of science and art.
The Georgetown Steam Plant is a location that can visually inspire students with its photogenic, industrial-age architecture and design which truly represent the original “Steam-Punk,” all in support of education, art, and science learning.
Participants build their own pinhole cameras, learn how to evaluate lighting and exposure time, explore ideas of visual composition, i.e., what makes a “good photo,” and learn how to use the chemistry in a black & white photographic darkroom on site to develop their own photographs.
Students will explore the Georgetown Steam Plant as a scientific, technologic, historic, and creative space.
Instructors: Eric Muhs & Dan Pickard, mostly-retired Seattle Public Schools science teachers with nearly 50 years of science teaching and pinhole photography teaching between them.

Land | Water | Air: Community Design for Equitable Futures in the Duwamish Valley
This exhibition showcases the research and design efforts of three graduate student projects in the UW Landscape Architecture Department advised by Associate Professor Catherine De Almeida. Each project addresses distinct environmental injustices in the Duwamish Valley.
Pollution Prevention: Mitigative Strategies for the Duwamish River and its Inhabitants offers Green Stormwater Infrastructure strategies focused on improving the Duwamish River's water quality. Authors: Meaghan O’Connor Lenth, Meredith Grupe, and Kat Golladay
AirWise: Collection for Clean Air is centered on air quality enhancement, emphasizing the importance of environmental justice and community health disparities. This project asks, “How can design interventions in the built environment address air quality health inequities, and foster a more equitable urban environment?” Author: Daquan Proctor
Repairing Waste Relations focuses on Seattle’s solid waste management system and its disproportionate impact on the Duwamish Valley. This research and design aims to make visible systems that are purposefully invisibilized, and create accessible resources for community to apply Just Transition frameworks to further collective efforts towards a Regenerative Economy. Authors: Malka Hoffman and Nat Gregorius
The work exhibited in this event seeks to center and amplify Duwamish Valley communities through design research tools such as mapping, case study analysis, and speculative visioning. We acknowledge that the work and joy that went into this work takes place on the ancestral lands of the past and present Coast Salish peoples, including the Muckleshoot, Suquamish, and Duwamish Tribes.

MUTATE
CHARI presents their new interdisciplinary work, MUTATE, an archival-themed, installation-based, media performance work. This works is partial fulfillment of CHARI's PhD dissertation, sponsored by the Department of Digital Arts and Experimental Media at the University of Washington.
Reimagining the Georgetown Steam plant as an enlarged bodily interior, MUTATE uses digital sound, digital visual media, 3D animation and algorithmic architectures to transform the Steam plant into systemic embodied archive. In a solo performance, CHARI meticulously ensures that the archive is running and that the systems are working, before downloading themselves into a new archival form.

The Georgetown Steam Plant is located at 6605 13th Ave. South, Seattle—adjacent to Boeing Field/King County International Airport.
Directions driving south on Interstate 5:
Take Exit 161, Albro Place. Turn right onto S Albro Pl
S Albro Pl turns into Ellis Ave S
Turn left onto S Warsaw St
Note: We recommend not using Google Maps or GPS as they are not accurate for this location.
Metro Bus routes 60 and 124 are the closest stops to the Georgetown Steam Plant.
Keep in mind:
The only access to the second floor is via steep stairs. If you require special assistance, please let us know.
There are no restroom facilities in the building. We have a wheelchair accessible portable toilet on the property.
The Steam Plant is not heated and can get very chilly during the colder months of the year. Please dress warmly!
